Practical Information for OIBC Students

Please review some of the practical information below. For more information, please see our FAQ page or contact the school.

HOUSING: The school does not offer housing for students, but students are responsible for finding their own accommodation while being a student at OIBC. There is student housing connected to the University of Oslo and surrounding university colleges which may offer housing based on availabilities. In addition, it is possible to rent private apartments or rooms, often advertised in local newspapers or at Finn.no (click English and/or use Google translator). From time to time, the school may be able to redirect students to available housing.

TRANSPORTATION: Most students acquire a monthly bus pass which allows them to travel freely by bus, local train, tram and local boats, both in Oslo and in Akershus (the areas surrounding Oslo). The prices vary according to how many zones you would need in order to travel from where you live. If you are below the age of 30, you qualify for a student bus pass, which is more reasonable than a regular bus pass. Please see Trafikanten for more information on prices and terms. Here you can also check bus schedules and the like.

HEALTH: All foreign students are required to take a TB-test (for tuberculosis) and and X-ray. All foreign students should check with their local health station ("Helsestasjon") for scheduling an appointment. Please contact the school for more information on this.
