Legal Requirements


  • Within 7 days of entering Norway, all foreign students must contact the police for the study permit 
  • Foreign students are required to take a TB-test and and X-ray (please contact your local Health Station in your municipality where you reside)
  • You must notify OIBC, the police and the National Folk Register where you live if you change your address 
  • You are required to have a valid work permit and a tax card in order to work in Norway
  • In order to get a tax card, you need a Norwegian personal number. For foreign students on a student residence permit, this can be applied for at your local tax office
